Technical Manager – Power Systems Modelling & Grid Integration (APAC)
I’m working with a global leader in energy technology and electrification, an organisation at the forefront of the energy transition, delivering advanced solutions across power systems, grid infrastructure, and renewable integration.
We are seeking a Technical Manager to join and lead their Power Systems Modelling & Grid team, a high-impact position combining deep technical expertise with regional leadership across APAC.
Why this role stands out
This is not a conventional grid modelling role. You’ll sit within a Power Conversion-focused division (not wind), giving you exposure to a diverse portfolio of technologies, including:
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Solar PV and hybrid generation plants
- Synchronous condensers and system strength solutions
- Advanced power electronics and grid support technologies
You’ll operate across the APAC region, blending hands-on technical delivery with leadership, and playing a key role in shaping how modern energy assets connect to, and stabilise, power systems.
The Opportunity
This role combines technical authority, stakeholder influence, and team leadership. You will act as a central figure bridging engineering delivery, regulatory compliance, and customer engagement across complex grid connection projects.
Your core responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Lead power system studies including load flow, RMS, and EMT simulations
- Oversee modelling and analysis using tools - PSSE, PSCAD and PowerFactory
- Provide technical oversight on system strength, stability, and grid compliance
- Ensure quality and consistency across all technical outputs
2. Grid Connection & Market Interface
- Manage the end-to-end generator connection process (R0, R1, and R2 submissions) and compliance with NER Chapter 5 requirements
- Serve as the key technical interface with AEM0 and NSPs
- Lead technical negotiations and drive successful connection outcomes
3. Team Leadership (APAC)
- Lead and develop a distributed team of engineers across APAC
- Foster strong collaboration across geographies and functions
- Mentor and build capability in grid modelling and compliance
- Drive effective stakeholder engagement and team performance
What we’re looking for
Essential experience:
- Extensive experience with generator/grid connection processes in Australia
- Advanced technical expertise in power system modelling and analysis
- Proven experience engaging with AEMO and NSPs, including negotiations
Leadership capability:
- Experience in people management or technical leadership roles
- Ability to manage and influence remote, cross-regional teams
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills
Why consider this opportunity?
- Work with a globally recognised energy technology provider driving large-scale infrastructure and grid transformation
- Exposure to multi-technology projects beyond traditional generation (battery, solar, grid stabilisation assets)
- A genuine balance of technical depth and leadership responsibility
- Regional scope with the opportunity to influence APAC energy markets
Who this role suits
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Is ready to step into, or expand within, a technical leadership role
- Wants to stay hands-on technically while leading teams and clients
- Enjoys working across diverse energy technologies
- Is motivated by solving complex grid challenges at scale
If you're interested in a role that combines technical excellence, leadership, and regional impact, I’d be keen to discuss this opportunity with you - please apply with your CV or reach out via email to
