A well-capitalised and fast-growing renewable energy platform is seeking a Commercial Manager (Energy Markets) to lead offtake strategy and energy market commercialisation across a significant portfolio of solar, storage and hybrid assets in Australia and New Zealand.

Backed by a global infrastructure investor with a strong track record across Asia Pacific, the business is in an exciting growth phase with contracted assets already generating revenue, an active development pipeline and an aggressive acquisition agenda. This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact commercial role at a business that is genuinely building something.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the commercial energy markets function across the business. That means leading PPA origination, shaping trading strategy and driving offtake transactions from origination through to close. The business is intentionally lean, and this role suits someone who wants genuine ownership rather than a seat at a large corporate table.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Originating, structuring and negotiating PPAs across solar, wind and BESS assets in Australia and New Zealand, covering both corporate and utility offtake
• Developing and executing the commercial offtake strategy across the development and acquisitions pipeline
• Leading engagement with energy retailers, gentailers, trading houses, C&I customers and industrial offtakers
• Providing commercial input on energy market positioning, including merchant exposure, hedging strategy and route-to-market decisions
• Monitoring NEM and NZ market dynamics, spot price trends, regulatory developments and competitor activity to inform commercial strategy
• Working closely with development, construction, grid and finance teams to align offtake timelines with project milestones and bankability requirements
• Supporting financial close processes by structuring offtake arrangements that satisfy lender and investor requirements
• Evaluating structured products including LTESAs, CIS mechanisms and hybrid offtake structures across the BESS portfolio

The Person

• Proven track record originating and closing utility-scale PPAs in the Australian market — execution history is essential
• Strong understanding of NEM fundamentals, including spot market mechanics, merchant risk, firming costs and the evolving role of storage
• Commercial fluency across energy trading concepts — you do not need to be a trader, but you need to understand how trading desks think and price risk
• Experience with BESS commercialisation and structured offtake products highly regarded
• Existing relationships across the Australian C&I, corporate and utility offtaker landscape
• Confident operating autonomously in a fast-moving, lean environment
• Strong financial and commercial acumen — able to model deal economics and navigate complex, multi-party negotiations
