Project Manager - BESS Rolle in Amsterdam

Overview

Our client is one of Europe's leading independent energy storage providers, headquartered in Amsterdam with offices across Munich, Hamburg and Madrid. They design, build and operate large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) that keep the grid stable and help bring more renewable power onto the system, a central part of Europe's move to net zero.

With individual projects above 100MW and a development pipeline exceeding 5GW, they are one of the most active BESS owners in the European market.

Why they are hiring

As the pipeline grows, the business is building out its own in-house construction capability and moving away from relying on external contractors to run delivery. This is an owner-side role with genuine end-to-end responsibility. You take large-scale BESS projects through construction to the point they are ready to deliver into Europe's energy system, on time, on budget and on spec.

What you will do

• Lead the project team with end responsibility for safe, on-spec, on-time and on-budget construction of large-scale BESS projects.
• Coordinate every project discipline, including planning, risk management, stakeholder management, HSSE and site management, interface management, QA and QC, and permitting.
• Act as the owner's representative towards suppliers, contractors, the grid operator and local stakeholders.
• Manage a range of contract forms, such as UAV-GC and FIDIC.
• Work closely with finance, contract management and commissioning colleagues to deliver each project.
• Base yourself in Amsterdam, with regular time on site across the Netherlands.

What we are looking for

• A proven track record of taking complex projects through to completion. People who have genuinely built projects, ideally in large-scale energy infrastructure, rather than administered them from a distance.
• Strong delivery experience in the energy sector, typically with seven years or more in a project or construction management role.
• A degree in a relevant discipline. An electrical engineering background is particularly welcome.
• Solid contract management experience across forms such as UAV-GC and FIDIC.
• Experience with high-voltage grid connections is a distinct advantage.
• Excellent communication, organisational and technical skills.
• Fluent Dutch and English. German is a plus.
• Willingness to travel, roughly a few days every two weeks.
• A background with an electrical contractor, or a wind or BESS developer. Oil and gas alone is not the right fit for this team.
• Hands-on delivery of grid-connected assets at 100MW scale or above.
• Comfortable carrying full delivery responsibility and setting the pace on site from day one.

What is on offer

• Base salary of EUR 90,000 to 110,000, depending on experience.
