Position Overview:
The Head of Grid will play a critical role in leading the grid connection process for renewable energy developments, including wind farms, solar projects, and hybrid systems. This position requires a high level of expertise in Generator Performance Standards (GPS) and knowledge in simulation tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, and PowerFactory, and actual experience in R0 R1 and R2 processes, as well as established knowledge and relationships with NSPs and AEMO.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the preparation and execution of GPS packages for various renewable energy generators, and the Grid Connection process in general.
• Conduct and oversee detailed GPS studies, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
• Actively participate in and oversee all stages of grid connection, including hold point tests.
• Supervise and coordinate external consultants, and layout the necessary strategies to optimize process timings.
• Mentor and support team members in technical aspects of GPS preparation and grid connection processes.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, industry partners, and suppliers to support compliance and foster innovation in grid connection standards.
• Prepare and review technical reports and necessary supporting documentation for GPS packages.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams, including engineering, project management, and procurement, to align GPS preparation and grid connection processes with overall project goals.
• Support M&A opportunities and Greenfield projects selection and internal technical analysis and due diligence processes.
• Drive the development and implementation of new technologies for hybrid generators within the GPS framework.
• Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in grid connection technologies and methodologies.
Skills and Experience:
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in grid connection roles, generator design, and GPS preparation.
• Knowledge of Australian energy market regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
• Technical expertise in PSSE, PSCAD, and PowerFactory. Benefits:
