Enemix has partnered with one of Australia’s largest and most prominent consultancies. This international consultancy are expanding this Power and Utilities sector in Australia and are looking for an Electricity Market Modelling Manager to lead the team.

In an expanding and shifting regulatory landscape, this household name have become more dominant in this sector and plan for continued expansion, providing data and analytics, large scale transformation and efficiency consultancy services.

Considering the strong demand and continued growth, they are looking for a Director of Energy Markets with a demonstrable quantitative and data science background, experienced in working with and managing advanced risk analyst, to join their Melbourne team. It is crucial that you have a desire to grow and learn, lead a high performing team, and have a genuine appetite to make a lasting impact on the Electricity Market.

The Role
As a Director of Energy Markets, you will bring your Energy and Electricity sector expertise to lead innovative, industry-standard research and analysis, supporting our customers and the broader battery energy storage sector. You will collaborate with internal research, financial, regulatory, auditing and operating teams to provide a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach to Market Modelling.

Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the design and modelling of energy contract and hedging structures.
• Supporting team operations and assist in training new hires, helping to establish office culture.
• Oversee Delivery for Australian Clients across all Electricity and Energy Market projects. Client Types range from Developers, Retailers, Gentailers and OEMs
• Design, Develop and manage electricity spot projections based on data from potential supply-demand scenarios, developing and utilising simulations using Plexos and Python.
• Ability to mimic bidding behaviour observed across various market stakeholders.
• Formulate and implement approaches to the management of energy marker risks for externa stakeholders and customers.
• Stay informed about the latest Energy market and policy news, communicating this within the company and to the broader industry.

Qualifications

• 15 years of professional experience in power markets.
• Proven advanced experience conducting complex data analysis in Plexos. Python and MS suite also highly regarded.
• Deep understanding of the electricity system and power trading, preferably with experience in how battery energy storage systems generate revenue in the NEM.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to discover, explore, visualize, and communicate trends and patterns in numerical data to provide value to our users.
• Ability to manage and lead a team of modellers, overseeing strategies, drive decision making and effectively liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and external stakeholders.
