Senior SCADA Engineer
Melbourne, VIC | Renewable Energy & Grid Connection | Permanent Role
Our client, a highly respected specialist engineering consultancy in the renewable energy and power systems sector, is seeking an experienced Senior SCADA Engineer to join their growing team. This organisation delivers end‑to‑end solutions for the connection of large‑scale generation assets to the grid and is known for its depth of technical expertise, collaborative culture, and contribution to Australia’s energy transition.

About the Role
As the Senior SCADA Engineer, you will provide expert SCADA and Controls engineering across all phases of the project lifecycle—from concept design and detailed engineering through to construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations support.
You will play a key role in guiding clients, leading technical workstreams, and delivering high‑quality engineering outcomes for grid‑connected renewable energy and HV infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Delivery
-Develop SCADA functional design specifications and interface requirements
-Produce technical documentation, specifications, bill of materials, and design reviews
-Undertake PLC and RTU programming, comms design, SCADA configuration and integration
Project Leadership
-Lead SCADA project delivery from concept through commissioning
-Support tendering, procurement, and contractor engagement
-Provide technical oversight during construction and commissioning
Coordination & Compliance
-Manage SCADA and controls scope within budgets and timelines
-Participate in safety‑in‑design, constructability, and compliance reviews
-Support technical due diligence and owner’s engineer activities
Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with:
-Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
-10+ years’ experience in the design and implementation of SCADA and control systems for HV electrical installations
-Strong understanding of HV networks, transmission and distribution systems, protection and control systems, and Australian energy standards
-Proven capability in PLC/RTU programming, SCADA software configuration, comms equipment, and industrial protocols (DNP3, Modbus, TCP)
-Experience developing and maintaining SCADA, network, and process control documentation
-Professional engineering registration (Engineers Australia, RPEV, RPEQ) ideal
-Excellent technical writing and communication skills
