Responsibilities
- Lead grid connection activities for renewable energy projects from concept through commissioning.
- Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and harmonics analysis to evaluate the feasibility and reliability of grid integration.
- Develop and execute grid connection strategies that align with local regulatory and technical requirements.
- Manage relationships with utilities, system operators, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders to secure grid connection approvals and agreements.
- Provide technical oversight on grid modeling, ensuring accurate results that support project design and operational decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, project development, and construction, to ensure seamless delivery of renewable energy projects.
- Stay updated on technical standards, emerging technologies, and industry best practices related to grid connections and power systems.
- Identify potential risks and create mitigation strategies to address performance, reliability, and cost impacts.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of safety, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in grid integration, grid connections, or power system studies, preferably in renewable energy contexts.
- Solid understanding of grid connection codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in power simulation software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, or similar tools for modeling and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical, efficient solutions.
- Proven experience collaborating with grid operators, utilities, and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage technical and non-technical audiences.

Day-to-Day
- Oversee and manage the work of engineers and consultants performing power system studies.
- Collaborate with utility and grid operator representatives to monitor project progress and resolve connection challenges.
- Review and analyze power system models, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Work closely with project development teams to evaluate technical risks and propose viable solutions.
- Attend meetings with stakeholders, providing updates and guidance on grid-related issues.
- Prepare and maintain grid connection documentation, including technical studies, agreements, and compliance reports.
- Monitor evolving industry trends and incorporate them into current and future projects.
- Support the professional development of junior team members and promote a collaborative workplace culture.
