About the Role
A leading international financial institution is seeking an Analyst to join its Structured & Project Finance team, supporting transaction execution across renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, data centres and resources
The team plays a key role in financing Australia’s accelerating energy transition, where capital‑intensive renewable energy and storage projects increasingly rely on sophisticated debt structures and portfolio‑level financing platforms to reach financial close.
This is a hands‑on, execution‑focused role within a lean team, offering immediate exposure to live transactions and meaningful analytical responsibility.
Team Context
- Small, high‑performing team working on complex structured debt and project finance transactions
- A senior leader manages client relationships; mid‑level leads drive execution
- Junior team members are expected to produce high‑quality work quickly
- Hiring is selective, with a strong emphasis on cultural fit and character
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Execution
- Build, review and sensitise project finance and structured debt models across wind, solar, storage, transport, utilities and data infrastructure.
- Support due diligence reviews, including financial, technical, legal and market assessments.
- Contribute to transaction documentation review (term sheets, finance documents, project agreements).
- Assist in preparing internal materials including credit analyses and approval papers.
- Participate in lender discussions for large syndicated financings, increasingly common as Australia’s renewable projects scale in size and capital intensity.
- Portfolio and Credit Management
- Monitor performance of an active transaction portfolio through financial analysis, compliance testing and market updates.
- Support periodic credit reviews and risk reporting.
- Market & Sector Analysis
- Conduct research on renewable energy, storage, transmission upgrades and the broader energy transition, reflecting increased investment and lender activity in large‑scale projects.
- Benchmark market assumptions such as price curves, generation forecasts and curtailment risk.
Candidate Profile
1) Technical Background
- Experience from a financial institution, advisory firm, Big 4 modelling/transactions team, or related environment
- Exposure to project finance, infrastructure, or structured debt is an advantage
- Ability to interpret financial models, run sensitivity analysis and understand bankability drivers
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
2) Character & Behaviour (highest priority)
The team prioritises how a person thinks behaves over purely technical credentials.
They want someone who is:
- Mature, calm, thoughtful
- Able to work under pressure in a lean environment
- A good communicator with clear, confident English
- Respectful, reliable and low‑ego
- Curious, proactive and collaborative
3) Cultural Fit
- Preference for candidates who have studied or worked in Australia or North America
- Comfortable working in a multicultural environment
- Able to integrate smoothly into an international institution without cultural friction
Why This Role Is Attractive
- Exposure to large, complex, multi‑billion‑dollar renewable and infrastructure financings
- Real execution responsibility from day one due to lean team structure
- Work alongside a technically strong mid‑level lead with significant PF experience
- Blend of modelling, credit, deal execution and portfolio management
- Strong long‑term development path into project finance, structured lending or infrastructure banking
