This organisation is deeply embedded in some of the country’s most complex and high‑profile renewable generation, storage, and transmission projects, and is known for its technical excellence, sustainability leadership, and commitment to innovation.
As demand continues to accelerate across the NEM, they are seeking a Lead Power Systems Engineer to provide senior technical leadership across grid connection and power system studies, while mentoring the next generation of engineers and shaping modelling standards at scale.

The Role
Lead Power Systems Engineer plays a pivotal leadership role within the Energy practice, acting as a senior technical authority on complex power system and grid connection projects.
You will lead critical studies across renewable generation, battery storage, and transmission infrastructure, while engaging directly with clients, network service providers, government authorities, and project developers.
This is a hands‑on technical leadership position—not just technical review—where you will guide modelling strategy, influence solution design, and raise technical capability across the team.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead complex power system studies including grid connection, system strength, and transmission/distribution planning.
- Provide technical leadership across RMS and EMT modelling workflows for renewable generation, storage, and network assets.
- Lead compliance activities related to power system modelling, grid connection studies, and registration with NSPs and government authorities.
- Undertake and review power quality studies.
- Provide peer review of technical reports, models, and critical project deliverables.
Software & Modelling
- Advanced application of PSSE and PSCAD/EMTDC (PowerFactory experience advantageous).
- Lead steady‑state, dynamic, and EMT simulation activities.
- Contribute to the development of internal modelling standards, methodologies, and automation capability.
Project & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as technical lead on multi‑disciplinary projects and key client accounts.
- Support project scoping, proposal development, and technical input into bids.
- Liaise directly with network service providers, regulators, OEMs, developers, and government stakeholders.
People Leadership & Capability Building
- Mentor and coach junior and senior engineers.
- Support internal knowledge sharing, training initiatives, and long‑term technical capability development.
About You
Essential Experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years’ experience delivering power system studies within the National Electricity Market (NEM).
- Strong background in generator, storage, and transmission planning.
- Advanced capability in PSSE and PSCAD.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and mentoring within consulting or utility‑scale environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
