Our client is one of the world’s leading independent renewable energy producers, operating across four continents and delivering large‑scale solar, wind and battery storage projects. With several gigawatts already in operation or under construction across Australia and strong backing by a major global asset manager, they are accelerating growth across the region.
We’re partnering with them to recruit a Grid Integration Specialist, a pivotal technical role supporting the next generation of hybrid renewable energy assets.
The Opportunity
As a Grid Integration Specialist, you’ll ensure the seamless technical integration of wind, solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across both greenfield and retrofit hybrid generation projects.
You’ll work across the full project lifecycle from specification and design through to implementation, commissioning and handover, supporting project delivery teams across Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
This role sits within the organisation’s technical delivery functions and blends onsite involvement with remote technical oversight.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Coordinate planning, design, construction and commissioning activities for hybrid and standalone storage projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Provide technical input into hybrid system design and integration strategies.
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, technical standards and safety regulations throughout commissioning.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction and operations teams to optimise system performance.
- Manage relationships with EPC contractors, OEMs and regulatory bodies during delivery.
- Develop, review and implement commissioning procedures, test plans and performance validation protocols.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning and early operations phases.
- Prepare detailed commissioning and handover documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in hybrid system performance and commissioning practices.
About You
You will thrive in this role if you bring
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience commissioning renewable energy projects, especially hybrid systems.
- Strong technical understanding of solar, wind and battery storage technologies.
- Good knowledge of grid compliance, power system testing and performance requirements.
- Proficiency in SCADA systems, communication networks and power system analysis tools.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, including remote support and site travel.
- Fluency in English.
Bonus skills (non‑essential):
- Working proficiency in Japanese.
- Experience with power system modelling software (PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory, etc.).
