A top-tier national law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Associate or Special Counsel to work directly with the firm's national Renewable Energy Practice Lead, who is highly regarded expert in the field.
With a proven track record of advising on over 70 wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage System projects across Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand, this team is at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution. Responsibilities
As a Senior Associate or Special Counsel, you will:
- Lead and contribute to M&A and major projects in the renewable energy sector, including wind, solar, and BESS.
- Oversee project sales and acquisitions, due diligence, feasibility studies, and grid connection processes.
- Provide expert advice on compliance, finance, offtake agreements, construction, and operational matters.
- Deliver general corporate, contracting, governance, and strategic advice to clients.
- Mentor and guide junior lawyers, fostering their professional growth while building your own reputation in the renewable energy space.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 6 years post-admission experience (PAE).
- A strong corporate, commercial, and M&A skillset, with demonstrated expertise in contract drafting and negotiation.
- A genuine interest in renewable energy, infrastructure, or the broader energy transition. Public sector or project experience will be highly regarded.
- Solid fundamentals in contract law and the ability to draft complex agreements with confidence.
- A passion for mentoring and developing junior team members.
Day-to-Day
Your typical day will involve:
- Collaborating with the Renewable Energy Practice Lead on high-profile transactions and projects.
- Engaging with clients to provide strategic advice and innovative solutions tailored to their needs.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements related to renewable energy projects.
- Conducting due diligence and feasibility assessments for large-scale energy projects.
- Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
