Senior Power Systems Engineer – Grid Connections | Perth (WEM)

I'm working with a specialist power engineering consultancy that's building its Grid Connections practice from the ground up, backed by the resources of a larger national infrastructure group. This isn't a role where you feed studies into someone else's project plan. You'll hold true single point accountability for your projects, end to end.

What you will be doing:

• Leading RMS dynamic studies in PowerFactory to support GPS assessments, Access Offers and connection assessment activities
• Running EMT studies in PSCAD, including EMT1 (SMIB) and EMT2 (wide area network) studies
• Working across the grid connection process, from customer options reports and enquiry studies through to application assessments, GPS assessments, Access Offers and dynamic studies
• Owning delivery across the full connection lifecycle (R0 to R2) as the accountable lead on assigned projects, managing several concurrently
• Acting as the delivery-side interface with clients, Western Power and OEMs, including leading applications, workshops and GPS negotiations

What they are looking for:

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years in power systems and grid connections, with solid WEM experience
• Strong working proficiency in PSCAD and PowerFactory, with a working understanding of Western Power's connection requirements and process
• Comfortable owning technical decisions within defined standards rather than working to constant direction
• Experience across the full connection lifecycle, R0 through to R2
