Job Advertisement: Electrical Engineering Expert – Grid Connection & High-Voltage Design

Overview

A European developer and long-term owner of utility-scale battery energy storage systems is seeking an electrical engineering expert to lead grid connection and high‑voltage design activities. The role focuses on ensuring technically robust, compliant, and reliable integration of large-scale storage assets into the power grid.

Responsibilities

• Own the overall electrical design for grid connections in the high- and extra‑high‑voltage range.
• Develop technical concepts for substations, grid connections, and protection & control systems (primary and secondary technology).
• Design and specify key components, including transformers, switchgear, and protection schemes.
• Act as the technical interface with TSOs and DSOs and manage coordination processes.
• Lead grid connection activities from compatibility studies through commissioning.
• Ensure full compliance with German regulations and standards (e.g., VDE, TAB).
• Support projects throughout planning, engineering, and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in high- or extra‑high‑voltage engineering, ideally within grid operators, EPCs, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong expertise in substation and grid connection design.
• Solid understanding of TSO/DSO structures and approval processes.
• In-depth knowledge of German electrical standards and regulations.
• Structured thinker with strong technical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Fluent in German and proficient in English.
• Willingness to be regularly present at a main project location in Germany.
