As a

Senior Field Service Engineer

, you will:

• Lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair efforts of commercial and utility-scale solar installations, including ground-mounted solar parks and large rooftop systems.
• Act as the primary technical expert on SMA Sunny Central inverters and other advanced, large-scale solar equipment.
• Supervise and mentor junior field service engineers, providing technical guidance and training when required.
• Conduct inspections, compliance checks, and ensure adherence to NEN1010 and Scope 12 standards.
• Take ownership of technical support and provide strategic recommendations to optimize overall system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with the engineering and project management teams to design and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate service records and produce detailed technical reports for key stakeholders.
• Travel extensively across the Netherlands, focusing on the Brabant region and central Netherlands, while managing your own schedule and priorities efficiently.
• Ensure safety standards and best practices are upheld at all times while delivering high-quality service.

Qualifications

To excel in this senior-level role, you possess:

• Extensive experience as a Field Service Engineer in the solar energy sector, with a focus on large-scale commercial and utility projects.
• Deep technical expertise in the installation, maintenance, service, and performance optimization of solar inverters, specifically SMA Sunny Central inverters.
• Proficient understanding of NEN1010 and Scope 12 standards, with demonstrable achievements in ensuring compliance.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving complex system issues.
• Competency in analyzing system performance data and leveraging IT tools for diagnostics and monitoring.
• Natural leadership capabilities, with the ability to mentor and support junior team members.
• Strong communication skills to interface regularly with clients, internal stakeholders, and technical teams.
• Proactivity, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while delivering results.
• A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel extensively across the Netherlands.
• Fluent in Dutch or proficient enough to communicate effectively with local clients and colleagues.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day as a Senior Field Service Engineer will involve:

• Traveling to various sites across the Netherlands, focusing on servicing projects in the Brabant and central regions, to address high-priority technical tasks.
• Managing complex maintenance programs and troubleshooting for solar installations to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
• Supporting and guiding junior engineers during site visits to enhance team performance.
• Coordinating with technical leadership to provide input on improving operational strategies and technologies.
• Preparing detailed service reports and making data-driven recommendations to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Ensuring safety and quality compliance across all service and repair activities.
• Innovating processes and implementing best practices that align with the company’s vision for operational excellence.

Basic Details

Work Location: Hybrid role, covering the Netherlands (ideal base in central Netherlands, e.g., Apeldoorn).
