Overview

Enemix is collaborating with a specialist engineering and construction business that delivers complex infrastructure solutions across the energy sector. With a strong track record of successful project delivery and in-house expertise, they play a pivotal role in shaping Australia’s evolving power and renewable energy landscape.

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of major substation and large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across New South Wales. This is a senior, high-impact role that offers the opportunity to work on industry-defining energy projects valued between $50M–$150M.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Leading the end-to-end delivery of large-scale substation and BESS projects, from early design and procurement through to construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Managing project performance across program, cost, quality, risk, and safety.
• Overseeing financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and commercial reporting.
• Coordinating and leading multidisciplinary teams, including civil and electrical engineers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Proactively managing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Applying high emotional intelligence to navigate challenges, balancing assertiveness with collaboration to achieve project goals.
• Ensuring all projects adhere to internal systems, governance frameworks, and safety standards.
• Conducting regular site visits as required, with all site-related expenses covered.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need

• A minimum of 7+ years’ experience delivering high-voltage substation projects.
• At least 2–3 years’ experience working on large-scale BESS projects.
• Proven track record managing projects valued between $50M–$150M+.
• A strong background in civil and/or electrical engineering within the power infrastructure sector.
• Demonstrated expertise across the full project lifecycle, from design to commissioning.
• High levels of commercial and financial acumen, with experience in budgeting and cost control.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
• High emotional intelligence and leadership maturity to effectively manage teams and stakeholders.
• Australian project experience is required (overseas experience is welcome but not essential).

Day-to-Day

Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
• Leading and mentoring project teams to achieve high performance and collaboration.
• Conducting site visits to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Engaging with clients and stakeholders to provide updates and resolve any project-related concerns.
• Managing procurement processes and coordinating with contractors and suppliers.
• Preparing and presenting commercial and technical reports to senior leadership.
