On behalf of our client, a specialist power engineering consultancy, we are seeking a Project Engineer to join their expanding team. This consultancy delivers complex grid connection and energy infrastructure solutions across Australia, with expertise in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), substations, solar projects, transmission, microgrids, and data centre connections.

Responsibilities

Project & Technical Support

• Support Project Managers in delivering cutting-edge power systems projects, including:
• BESS connections
• Data centre connections
• Solar and hybrid energy projects
• GPS and microgrid projects
• Substations and transmission projects (including tender support)
• Assist with technical coordination involving clients, contractors, NSPs, and internal teams.
• Contribute to power systems studies, connection scopes, and engineering inputs under the guidance of senior engineers.

Documentation & Brief Preparation

• Prepare and coordinate project briefs, technical documentation, and client-focused materials.
• Assist in tender preparation, feasibility inputs, and connection applications.
• Ensure high-quality written outputs that are clear, thorough, and client-ready.

Site & Coordination Activities

• Visit project sites (primarily Victoria, with some interstate travel).
• Support on-site supervision and coordination activities.
• Serve as a critical link between site teams and the office-based engineering team.

Team & Growth Focus

• Collaborate closely with senior engineers and leadership in-office.
• Expand your foundational engineering skills alongside a growing team.
• Actively contribute to team culture, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Essential

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in power systems with exposure to grid-connected infrastructure.
• 1–2+ years’ experience in an engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional documentation.
• Willingness to attend site visits and travel interstate as needed.
• Demonstrated curiosity, proactivity, and eagerness to learn and grow.

Highly Regarded

• Experience with BESS, renewable energy, or data centre connection projects.
• Familiarity with NSPs, connection processes, or grid compliance frameworks.
• Comfortable working in both office-based engineering and site-based roles.

Day-to-Day

• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to deliver impactful energy projects.
• Prepare technical documentation, project briefs, and connection applications.
• Conduct site visits and assist with on-site supervision and coordination.
• Engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Develop technical and commercial skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.
