Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a dynamic and fast-growing battery storage Independent Power Producer (IPP) based in Germany. The company develops, constructs, and operates its own battery storage assets while leveraging advanced trading capabilities across European power markets. Backed by institutional investors, the business is scaling its pipeline from development into construction and operation, with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability.

As the company expands its construction and operational footprint, we are seeking an experienced Operations Director to bring structure, operational rhythm, and leadership across development, delivery, and growth functions.

Responsibilities

As the Operations Director, you will:

• Establish Operational Rhythm: Create a cohesive and transparent operating structure across development, delivery, and growth functions.
• Pipeline Delivery: Oversee the successful delivery of the project pipeline, ensuring smooth transitions from development to construction and operation.
• Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with the leadership team to align on a shared strategy for pipeline growth and operational excellence.
• Project Structuring: Engage closely with the financial and legal structuring of battery storage projects, each housed within its own SPV.
• Leadership Representation: Represent the operations team in leadership meetings, contributing to strategic decision-making and operational planning.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

• Proven Experience: Demonstrated success in delivering Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects beyond permitting and ready-to-build stages, through construction and into operations.
• Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, with the ability to establish processes from scratch.
• Collaborative Leadership: A low-ego, collegiate leadership style that fosters teamwork and mutual respect across functions.
• Technical and Commercial Acumen: A solid understanding of BESS project structuring and delivery, with experience in development, construction, engineering, or financial/legal disciplines.
• Cultural Fit: The ability to work effectively within a young, international team, with strong communication skills and a proactive mindset.
