We're currently partnering with a global infrastructure and energy developer that is playing a key role in accelerating Australia’s transition to clean energy.

Our client delivers fully integrated solutions across the lifecycle of renewable projects, from development and funding through to construction, ownership, and operation. With a strong pipeline of wind, solar, and battery storage (BESS) projects, they are now looking to grow their grid team with the addition of a Senior Grid Connection Engineer

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to the full grid connection lifecycle across large-scale renewable energy projects in the NEM.

You will work closely with experienced grid engineers, supporting a wide range of activities from feasibility through to commissioning and generator registration, while building strong technical capability across solar, BESS, and hybrid systems.

Key Responsibilities

Grid Connection Delivery

  • Support grid connection activities across all project stages, from early feasibility to commissioning and registration
  • Assist with Grid Connection Enquiries and regulatory submissions
  • Contribute to the preparation and coordination of Generator Performance Standards (GPS) documentation

Technical & Modelling Support

  • Assist in the coordination and review of power system studies and connection models
  • Contribute to modelling using PSCAD, PSSE and DIgSILENT PowerFactory
  • Support preparation of technical reports, documentation, and submissions

Commissioning & Compliance

  • Assist with grid commissioning activities, including Hold point testing and R2 model validation and reporting
  • Support compliance processes to ensure alignment with NER and regulatory requirements

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with internal teams across development, engineering, and project delivery
  • Support engagement with AEMO, Network Service Providers (NSPs), and External consultants
  • Participate in technical meetings alongside senior engineers

Project Support & Risk Tracking

  • Assist with grid program planning and milestone tracking
  • Support identification and management of technical and delivery risks
  • Maintain awareness of evolving NEM, NER, and NSP requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in Power Systems and Grid studies
  • Foundational understanding of:
  • National Electricity Market (NEM)
  • National Electricity Rules (NER)
  • Grid connection frameworks
  • Experience with modelling tools (PSSE, PSCAD and PowerFactory)
  • Strong analytical thinking and technical report writing ability
  • Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within the grid connection space
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Interest in building long-term expertise in renewable energy and grid integration
