Power Markets (Short-Term / Curve)
Overview
We are seeking a talented and driven Trading Analyst to join a dynamic and fast-growing trading house based in Berlin. This organization operates across day-ahead, intraday, and week-ahead to month-ahead power, gas, and emissions markets.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of quantitative modelling capabilities for short-term power and curve bidding, working closely with senior leadership in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
As a Trading Analyst, you will:
- Develop and maintain stack models for short-term power markets.
- Build and refine bid and offer curve models.
- Collaborate with the strategist on delivery and booking processes.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Approximately 3 years of experience in a relevant analyst or quantitative role.
- Direct, hands-on experience with stack models.
- Proven expertise in modelling short-term power markets and curve bidding.
- A preference for an analyst function rather than a trading seat.
- Willingness to be based in or relocate to Berlin, with the ability to work in-office from day one.
Day-to-Day
Your daily activities will include:
- Designing and optimizing quantitative models to support trading decisions.
- Collaborating with the Head of Trading and other team members to refine strategies.
- Analyzing market data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Preparing for the desk's transition into asset management by contributing to foundational modelling and processes.
Benefits
- Competitive Compensation: Base salary of EUR 70,000-80,000, negotiable based on experience.
- Performance Bonus: Discretionary bonus.
- Flexible Work Environment: Hybrid working model (3 days/week) after an initial in-office ramp-up period of approximately 3 months.
- Career Growth: Direct exposure to the desk's founders and senior trading leadership, with opportunities to shape the desk's quantitative and curve modelling capabilities.
Why This Role?
This position is ideal for someone who thrives on building and shaping processes rather than stepping into a predefined role. You will join the team at a pivotal moment, contributing to the development of a key capability as the desk transitions into asset management. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
