Senior Project Engineer role in New South Wales

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our NSW delivery team on one of Australia’s largest and most significant energy infrastructure programs. The role involves leading engineering activities for high‑voltage (HV) transmission line construction, including major 275kV–500kV packages, and providing technical and operational support to ensure successful delivery of complex transmission works.

You will work closely with project leadership, Superintendents, Supervisors, and field crews to drive engineering quality, manage performance and cost outcomes, and lead high-performing engineering teams across a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Engineering Leadership

• Manage all aspects of 500kV conductor installation, including stringing, tensioning, sagging, quality control, and compliance with project engineering standards.
• Lead engineering teams across transmission line construction, ensuring alignment with project scope, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide ongoing technical support to Superintendents and Supervisors to resolve engineering challenges in the field.
• Coordinate engineering inputs for construction planning, sequencing, and risk management.

Project Delivery & Performance

• Manage engineering deliverables across design, procurement, and construction phases.
• Oversee project cost performance, including budget tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
• Support development of work packs, ITPs, drawings, and other engineering documentation.
• Participate in project status updates, reporting on progress against schedule, cost, and technical requirements.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all HV transmission line activities meet quality standards and industry best practices.
• Support WHS compliance by integrating safe-by-design principles into engineering solutions.
• Conduct technical reviews, inspections, and audits to verify adherence to specifications and standards.

Stakeholder & Team Coordination

• Work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, design partners, and internal project teams.
• Mentor and guide engineers, providing leadership that builds capability and supports project outcomes.
• Assist in resolving field‑based engineering issues in a timely and practical manner.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated experience delivering HV transmission line projects between 132kV and 500kV.
• Proven capability in 500kV conductor installation, or large-scale transmission conductor works at comparable voltages.
• Experience in major infrastructure or utility-scale energy projects.
• Strong understanding of transmission line construction methods, quality requirements, and industry standards.
• Experience supporting or leading engineering teams on complex, multi‑disciplinary projects.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical).
• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with engineering software and Microsoft Office tools.
• White Card and valid driver’s licence.

Desirable

• Experience on large EPC, Tier-1 contractor, or utility transmission projects.
• Previous involvement in commissioning, testing, or energisation processes.
• Ability to work in regional or remote project environments.
