Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager to oversee the delivery of high-voltage substation projects across New South Wales. This is a site-based role, where you will play a pivotal part in managing the construction of critical infrastructure projects within the electricity transmission network.

As a Construction Manager, you will lead the on-site execution of projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and contractor teams to achieve project objectives and contribute to the development of essential energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the on-site construction of substation and associated infrastructure works, including civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel across multiple project locations.
  • Monitor and control construction schedules, progress, and resource allocation to meet project milestones.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and site constraints, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and project delivery teams to address technical and constructability challenges.
  • Provide accurate and timely site reporting, forecasting, and performance tracking to senior stakeholders.
  • Enforce strict adherence to high-voltage safety standards and permit-to-work systems.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Senior Site Manager on major infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong background in delivering high-voltage substations, transmission, or power infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary construction teams in complex, live operational environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of civil works, structural installation, and electrical systems (primary and secondary).
  • Experience managing contractors, budgets, schedules, and site logistics across dispersed locations.
  • In-depth knowledge of WHS requirements, environmental compliance, and construction legislation in NSW.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Construction industry certifications and site-based safety accreditations (e.g., White Card).
  • High-voltage or electrical industry training/authorisations will be highly regarded.
