More about this Construction Manager Role

Our client is a backed developer that finances, builds and operates large-scale battery storage across Europe, with active projects in Belgium, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Germany. They run the full project lifecycle in-house, from greenfield origination and permitting through engineering, financing, construction and long-term asset management, supported by a lean core team and a select group of technical partners.

Germany is now their priority market, with a development pipeline of around 4GW. Their lead project is a 750MW battery storage system connecting into the 50Hertz transmission network at 380kV, roughly one to two hours from Berlin. The project has been acquired and is moving towards financial close this autumn, with construction starting in the new year. This role is being hired ahead of that start, so you would join at the point the project becomes real.

Why they are hiring

As the project moves from development into delivery, the client is building out its construction organisation. The Construction Manager will be the senior representative on site, supervising execution of a full-wrap EPC contract delivered by Tesla, and building the team around it. This is a build-it role, not an inherit-it one.

What you will do

  • Act as the senior on-site representative, supervising execution of the full-wrap EPC contract
  • Build and structure a team to manage the EPC contractor and its suppliers
  • Own delivery across balance of plant, civil works, procurement and HSE
  • Take full ownership of budget, programme and quality, flagging any risk to the schedule early
  • Work closely with the technical, contract and grid teams to keep delivery on track
  • Represent the project on the ground and keep momentum through the build

What they are looking for

  • Proven experience supervising EPC delivery on large energy or infrastructure projects, ideally BESS, solar, substations or similar
  • Strong contractor and supplier management, comfortable holding a full-wrap EPC to account
  • Solid grounding across balance of plant, civil works, procurement and HSE
  • Fluent German and the confidence to be the senior voice on site
  • Self-driven and pragmatic, happy to take full ownership in a lean, fast-moving team
  • Direct battery storage construction experience
  • Experience building or leading a site team from an early stage
  • Familiarity with the German market, authorities and local suppliers

What is on offer

  • A genuinely large-scale project at the point it becomes real, with real ownership from day one
  • A meaningful share in the long-term success of the asset (structure being finalised)
  • A flexible base with a satellite office, on site two to three days per week
  • A small, high-trust team that stays lean by design and works alongside strong technical partners
