Financial Controller

Renewable Energy Developer | Melbourne (Sydney considered for exceptional candidates)

Our client is a privately held renewable energy and storage developer that has scaled rapidly in recent years, backed by a mix of institutional investors with a long-term, patient capital approach. The business has built a substantial portfolio of early-stage wind, solar, and storage projects across the Australian market.

The business operates with a lean, high-calibre team and a genuine long-term ownership model, developing, constructing, and operating renewable assets rather than developing to sell. It is entering its next phase of growth, with an expanded leadership team recently appointed to guide the platform through to financial close and construction on multiple projects.

The role

This is a genuine opportunity for an ambitious, recently qualified accountant to make the move from practice into industry, taking ownership of the finance function inside a fast-growing renewable energy platform. You will work closely with the leadership team from day one, with real scope to grow into a broader finance leadership role as the business scales.

Core responsibilities include:

• Financial control, statutory reporting, and month-end close across the group
• Supporting cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting
• Assisting with project finance processes as assets move toward financial close
• Working directly with the executive team on financial and commercial matters
• Building strong foundations for the finance function as headcount grows

What we're looking for

• CA or CPA qualified, ideally trained at a Big Four or well-regarded mid-tier accounting firm
• Early in your industry career, hungry to make the jump from practice into a commercial, hands-on role
• Comfortable working in a small team where you will be trusted with real responsibility early
• A genuine interest in renewable energy and the commercial side of large-scale infrastructure projects
• Based in Melbourne, or willing to relocate for the right opportunity. Sydney-based candidates considered if exceptional
