Role Overview

As a Legal Manager, you will contribute to the success of mega-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, overseeing all legal aspects across the project lifecycle—from initial design through delivery and operation. This is a leadership role requiring strategic decision-making, strong negotiation skills, and expertise in legal risk governance.

Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic position, you will:

• Lead Complex Negotiations: Structure, negotiate, and execute critical project and finance agreements (EPC, OEM, offtake, etc.) to align with commercial goals and risk appetite.
• Advise on Project Finance: Manage legal aspects of project financing, including due diligence, lender negotiations, and tripartite agreements.
• Ensure Legal Compliance: Implement robust governance frameworks for compliance with internal policies, regulations, and legal standards.
• Orchestrate Stakeholder Collaboration: Strategically coordinate legal workflows with multidisciplinary internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Provide Strategic Legal Advice: Offer expert guidance during the development, construction, and operational phases of international clean energy projects.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

• Experience & Expertise: Proven track record in crafting and managing complex project and finance agreements across various legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to anticipate, analyze, and mitigate legal risks across all project phases.
• Project Finance Knowledge: Expertise in legalities surrounding project finance, including lender negotiations and alignment of financial instruments with documentation.
• Regulatory Acumen: Understanding of multi-jurisdictional legal landscapes and their implication on project structures and operations.
• Governance Mastery: Demonstrated success in embedding legal frameworks into corporate operations to ensure alignment with both internal and external obligations.

Your Day-to-Day

In this pivotal role:

• You will liaise with internal cross-functional teams and external contractors to navigate the legal aspects of the energy lifecycle.
• You will negotiate high-stakes agreements, including offtake, connection, land, and financing documents.
• You will play a strategic role in ensuring compliance with corporate governance and regulatory frameworks.
• You will help manage key milestones, ensuring projects are executed on schedule and on budget.
• You will contribute to shaping the company’s growth, supporting key strategic and operational decisions.
