As part of our mission, you will play a pivotal role in developing battery storage projects, with potential expansions into the realms of wind and solar energy production. Reporting to the Regional Director in Hamburg, you’ll engage in all phases of the development lifecycle from site identification and land acquisition to permitting, stakeholder engagement, and pre-construction planning.

Responsibilities

  • Greenfield Development: Identify and evaluate potential greenfield sites for battery storage projects that align with strategic project goals.
  • Land Negotiations: Spearhead land acquisition efforts by identifying viable sites, managing relationships with landowners, and securing land lease agreements. Oversee land agents and relevant consultants as needed.
  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate lasting relationships with local stakeholders, including authorities, consultants, grid operators, and other key players, to ensure efficient project progress.
  • Permit Coordination: Collaborate with spatial planners, environmental experts, and technical advisors to prepare and manage all permitting applications, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Drive environmental studies to adhere to local and national laws, contributing to the company’s sustainability-focused mission.
  • Tender Submissions: Lead the preparation and submission of bids for public and private tenders, maintaining a high standard of quality and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Risk Mitigation & Pre-Construction Planning: Conduct risk assessments, coordinate pre-construction logistics, and oversee EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) negotiations as projects advance towards implementation.
  • Team Leadership: Guide consultants, contractors, and internal teams to achieve timely, high-quality project execution within budget constraints.

Qualifications

  • Academic Credentials: Advanced degree in engineering, business administration, project management, geography, or a related discipline, particularly with a focus on renewable energy or the environment.
  • Industry Experience: 3–9 years of experience in developing renewable energy projects (e.g., battery storage, wind, solar). Experience within large-scale infrastructure, utilities, or telecommunications is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple, complex projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with great attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills for internal collaboration and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Able to work independently while flourishing in a team-oriented environment.

Typical Day

Morning:

  • Begin the day with team strategy meetings, reviewing project updates and setting the day’s priorities in alignment with ambitious growth plans.
  • Conduct research on innovative methods for identifying prospective sites and engaging local communities.
  • Collaborate with consultants on documentation related to permitting and regulatory compliance.

Midday:

  • Visit project sites to assess land opportunities and meet with local stakeholders, ensuring high levels of community engagement.
  • Coordinate with spatial planners and environmental consultants to address project-specific needs.
  • Meet with local authorities to review permitting progress and discuss timelines.

Afternoon:

  • Lead the preparation of tender proposals alongside procurement and technical teams, ensuring the company remains a leader in competitive and innovative solutions.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks affecting project schedules.
  • Conduct milestone reviews with land agents, contractors, and consulting partners, either virtually or onsite.
